It’s not been the best week for Claire, especially given she’s spent days now on the road with a band of men who both ardently mistrust her and yet are still willing to get in a bar fight over her honour (in other news, bloody hell I love Scotsmen), all the while preparing for a war she secretly knows they won’t win. Not to mention the fact that she’s also in possession of a supernatural secret she must keep at all costs if she has any hope of returning to her home and husband still out there, somewhere in the vast wilderness of time and the future. But in this week’s episode of Outlander – entitled “The Garrison Commander” – she’s about to find out that thanks to the sudden re-appearance of the sadistic Captain Randall in her life, whether or not she makes it home may just be the least of her problems. Indeed, it’s a cruel mess she now finds herself in: trapped in a battle to not only to reconcile her embattled English roots with her strange new Scottish ties, but also the memory of her loving husband with his now very present bloodthirsty ancestor. But did she do it all without losing herself in the process? Well, let’s dive in and find out shall we?
